Bensonhurst is a residential area located in Brooklyn's southwestern part in New York City. The 14th Avenue is to the north, the 60th Street is to the east, the 22nd Avenue (Bay Parkway) and Avenue P are to the south, and 86th Street is to the west. In October 1895, Walter Loveridge Johnson transformed a forested area into the suburb we now know as Dyker Heights. Through the entirety of the twentieth century, the area's reputation as a posh residential area remained intact. At his peak, he was confined exclusively to the area between Tenth and Thirteenth Avenues, and 79th and 86th Streets.
